Entering grades

This is carried out with the Enter grade procedure appearing in the menu above.

Student grades that count toward overall course grade are only those initially set by the instructor in grade composition. After setting the grade composition and interacting with students through email, entering student grades is the next most common and important role of an instructor for his/her students.

There are three types of grades corresponding to the three types of learning assessment previously mentioned:
- grades for assignments and other student individual or group work assessed by the instructor
- grades automatically generated by PEOI from quizzes and tests
- grades on final exams that may be evaluated by or on behalf of the instructor
There may also be a grade for course participation (previously mentioned), but it is likely to be rare for PEOI on-line students because of the variety of student personal circumstances and PEOI current policy not to impose time constraints for course completion; it would be more common for courses taught in-class or on a semester basis.

Subject to adequate compliance with collegial policies discussed below, student grades are the sole and entire responsibility of the instructor.

When entering a grade, an instructor can also indicate the name of the grader and/or proctor in cases it was not the instructor him/herself. The date is automatically the date the grade is entered and not the date the work was physically completed.
